PHOTO CONTEST RULES
BAJO LA SOMBRA
  1. Participation open to anybody over 18 years old, who is current a resident of Spain, Latin America and Africa, regardless of nationality. Participants can be amateurs or professionals.


  2. There will not be able to take part in this experience those persons who are linked by relation work with Ayuda en Acción, Entreculturas and InteRed.


  3. Each participant can include one photograph maximum for each of the categories.


  4. Photographs can be from before the contest but those published or given award in other contests (including those awaiting decision) are not admissible.


  5. Photographs that present a negative image or denigrate the image of the people present in the picture or include any attempt against their privacy, will not be admitted, following the Ethical Code of Images by CONGDE (document in Spanish).


  6. Photographs will be accepted from the 28th of April until 28th of June. They can be sent by mail or delivered in person from 9 am to 8 pm to the following address:

    In the envelope please specify photograph contest “Concurso de fotografía Bajo la Sombra” and include a word format document with the following information:
    • Title of the piece.
    • Brief description of the picture (where it was taken).
    • Full name of the author, telephone number, mailing address, email, name of a contact person in case of being absent.

  7. Pictures can be presented in colour or black and white and can be taken with digital or analogue cameras. Those pictures that are not taken with a digital camera should be scanned and sent in digital format (JPG) with 1 MP of minimun quality, pictures in slides or on paper will not be accepted.

    Please send it to either prensa@mueveteporlaigualdad.org or on a cd to the indicated address, specifying in the subject “Concurso de fotografía Bajo la Sombra” and full name.


  8. Photographs cannot be digitally altered or by any other means. Photomontages will not be accepted. Basic adjustments are permitted for example levels of light, colour…


  9. All of the costs of mailing and return (if directly requested) will be assumed by the participant, who will also be able to go in person to the office to collect materials which did not win prizes. One month after submission of prizes copies will be destroyed or filed.


  10. The judge decision and the names of the winners of the contest will be announced at an event that will take place in the last quarter of 2009, date and place will be announced.


  11. As part of their decision process judges will take into consideration static quality, consciousness raising and informative potential of the presented photographs.


  12. The selection of the winners will be at the absolute discretion of the judges and their decision definite and unappeable.


  13. Prizes will be given for the presented works unanimously or lacking that for those pictures that receive the majority of the votes and are considered worthy of the prize. In case of discrepancies the president will have the final vote, if no worthy work is presented no prize will be given.


  14. The artist of the photograph expresses and guaranties to the organizing entity that she or he is the only owner of the rights of the images entered in the contest and she or he is has neither transfer not authorized any rights to the photographs from third parties or other ends.


  15. Participation in the contest includes the concession to the three NGOs of the reproduction, distribution, publicity and transformation rights to the photograph and that they can appear in various corporate materials of the organizing entities.


  16. In submitting the photograph participants accept each of the terms and conditions presented in the contest rules. If participants do not comply with any of the rules indicated for the contest she or he will be automatically disqualified.
